As an artisan herself, Joan Wissert understands how difficult it is to constantly be loading up the car with goods and taking them to markets. After relocating from Western New York to Middleburgh, she noticed a void in the area of shops catering to local artisans. Her dream for Middleburgh Mercantile was to have a permanent location where local artisans could sell their goods. Soon customers will be able to order products online, with the help of a Digital Marketing Grant from Schoharie Economic Enterprise Corp. (SEEC).
In addition to running her business, Joan is active in the local Rotary club, as well as designing and promoting Shop Local initiatives. She also enjoys repurposing items in her spare time. In the future, Joan wants to continue to offer high quality locally made goods at fair prices.
